How We Ran a Successful Grassroots Event for 10 years

Over the past decade, TMC School Supply Giveaway has grown to become one of the most successful community events in the city of New Britain Connecticut. It is the only event of it’s kind that is ran exclusively by a non-profit organization that is operated and managed by it’s founders, Torrence and Tim Conaway.

In August 2023, TMC gave away 500 book bags and school supplies and had over 50 volunteers who helped do everything from run the bounce house, help with crowd control, and hand out tickets for free ice cream and raffles.

Thousands of people have taken part in the TMC School Supply Giveaway and it continues to grow year after year. Here’s how they did it.

Partnerships. Partnerships have helped TMC become an iconic force in the community and has helped elevate their presence and impact. These partnership did not happen overnight and they are not just ordinary partnerships.

TMC partners with both individuals and organizations by working together to create value. Also, TMC is very collaborative in helping organizations reach their community goals and objectives without abandoning their mission to train and motivate male youth living in underserved areas.
